Is your therapy covered?

Good news! Many employer or privately paid health insurance plans will cover psychotherapy and counselling, allowing you to access services at a much lower rate. That means that after the portion covered by your benefits, you will usually end up paying between $20-40 per session. Not too bad!

Often, insurers won't allow direct billing, so you may have to pay up front and submit for reimbursement. But don't worry, I provide you a receipt with all the necessary information after each session.

Below are some examples of insurers who offer full or partial coverage for therapy. Please check with your individual plan to see if your therapy will be covered. If you're not sure or can't find the information you need, reach out to your insurer directly for more information.

NOTE: For clients accessing services through the Interim Federal Health Plan (IFHP), please note that as of May 1, 2026, Medavie Blue Cross has decided that a co-pay of 30% of the cost of services will apply. This includes assessment and session fees. If you have any questions about this, please don't hesitate to reach out to me and/or Medavie Blue Cross.

Private/Employer-Paid Insurers

Many private or employer-paid health insurance plans will cover your sessions. These include, but are not limited to:

Empire Life, Sun Life, Telus Health, Great West Life, Canada Life

It's important to know that coverage levels vary by individual plan, so be sure to check yours to see what kind of coverage you have. Don't see your insurance company here? Don't worry! Reach out to them directly to see if your sessions would be covered.

If you are an employee of the federal government and covered by the Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP), my services are covered at 80% up to $5000. PSHCP does not direct bill, so session fees will have to be paid out of pocket, and then reimbursed through Canada Life.
